Belgium wrapped up their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in style, cruising to a dominant 5-0 victory over Tunisia in Brussels on Saturday. The convincing win extended the Red Devils’ unbeaten streak to 13 matches, with nine wins and four draws during that impressive run.
With home supporters eager to see a strong final performance before the tournament begins, Belgium started brightly and controlled much of the early proceedings. Their pressure finally paid off just before the half-hour mark when Leandro Trossard opened the scoring.
The move was crafted brilliantly by Jeremy Doku, whose pace and trickery caused problems throughout the match. The Manchester City winger danced past defender Adem Arous inside the penalty area before squaring the ball perfectly for Trossard, who made no mistake from close range to net his 12th international goal.
Belgium continued to push for a second. Kevin De Bruyne tested goalkeeper Mouhib Chamakh with a powerful effort before delivering an inviting cross that Brandon Mechele failed to convert, heading wide when well placed.
Despite leading by only one goal at halftime, Belgium looked comfortable and quickly increased their advantage after the restart. Just eight minutes into the second half, Charles De Ketelaere rose highest to meet a floated cross from Youri Tielemans, directing a superb header beyond Chamakh. The goal continued the midfielder’s excellent international form, marking his fourth strike in his last five appearances for Belgium.
With a two-goal cushion secured, Belgium briefly eased their intensity, allowing Tunisia a rare opportunity. Elias Achouri came close to pulling one back when his effort struck the woodwork, offering a glimpse of hope for the visitors.
However, Tunisia’s chances of a comeback were effectively ended when Ismael Gharbi received his second yellow card of the afternoon. The midfielder’s late sliding challenge left the referee with little choice but to send him off, reducing Tunisia to ten men.
Belgium immediately capitalized on their numerical advantage. Captain Kevin De Bruyne added a third goal with a precise finish from the edge of the box, putting the contest firmly beyond doubt.
The hosts were not finished yet. Substitute Dodi Lukebakio bundled home Belgium’s fourth goal from close range before fellow substitute Nicolas Raskin completed the rout late on, calmly guiding a low shot into the bottom corner after reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the area.
The emphatic victory gives coach Rudi Garcia and his squad plenty of confidence heading into their World Cup opener against Egypt on June 15. Meanwhile, Tunisia and coach Sabri Lamouchi will look to regroup before beginning their tournament campaign against Sweden.
Jeremy Doku’s dazzling display earned him Man of the Match honors, capping an outstanding team performance that underlined Belgium’s ambitions ahead of the global showpiece.
